If I have great riches and wealth
Too great for me to enjoy alone;
And I do not give out to the poor and the needy,
Then what is the use of my riches?
If in everything I have surplus:
In food, in clothing and in mansions,
And I care not about the needy ones on the street,
Then what is the essence of my wealth?
If I understand that it is only God that blesses;
And that He blessed me
For me to be a blessing to others,
Why then should I be so mean
Even towards that neighbour,
Who goes to bed on empty stomach?
So then, out of my riches, I will give
And help others: both the needy and the poor.
This is the easiest way I can receive
Great riches and great wealth, even the more.
